Pine Shores Art Supply Sale

Mark your calendar !  Saturday, October 21 from 10am to 3pm

There will be an art supply sale in the PSAA Tuckerton Art Center at 140 E. Main Street. We’ve recently received donated art materials from a few members and professional artists who are downsizing or moving, and this has spurred on a cleanup of our own storage closets to make way for supplies needed for new classes and projects coming up.

This is a fund raising effort to help Pine Shores continue promoting the arts in Ocean County.

Do you have any art supplies you aren’t using that you’d like to donate to the sale? You make room in your art space for your new projects, and at the sale, you and your fellow artists get a bargain price on art supplies you need now.
It’s a win-win for everyone!

Don’t forget, we’re a 501(c)3 non-profit.
You’ll receive a tax deduction receipt for your art supply donations.

Drop Off Your Donations

Please look through your art supplies and bring any surplus you would like to donate to the sale to the
PSAA Tuckerton Art Center at 140 E. Main Street.

Someone will be there during these days/times to receive them.
This Friday, October 13, between 10am and 2pm.
This Saturday, October 14 between 10am and noon.

Thanks! We look forward to seeing you when you drop off your donations and/or at the sale a week from Saturday.

Silky & Shiny Exhibit Reception - Sunday, October 29, 1-3 pm

Everyone is invited to the Tuckerton Art Center Gallery on Sunday afternoon to a reception where color floats through painted silk scarves and dances on alcohol ink canvas and tiles.

Linda Blum, Judy Kronmeyer, Chuck Person, Jeanne Easton Preston, Linda Saladino, Alexandra Smith, Joette Van Ness, Barbara Whelan and Sara Zimmerman are the nine featured artists presenting their vibrant work in these specialized mediums.

Painting on washed, stretched and dried silk is an ancient art that outdates painting on canvas and paper by centuries. The medium is not a fabric paint, but rather a dye that penetrates the silk, making both sides an art object. The art is first drawn with a resist medium that keeps the dye from spreading out beyond the artist’s design. The resist is then washed out, leaving a painted image with silky soft transparency.

Alcohol ink is a relatively new technique that has become popular in America, but is still largely unknown elsewhere. The painting surface has to be nonporous to allow the ink to slide around and blend, often in abstract patterns directed by the artist. The blending medium is a version of isopropyl alcohol that evaporates quickly, but it’s initially strong and pungent, requiring a well ventilated studio space. The artistic results are sparkly electric color.

Examples of paintings in both mediums are attached, with caption crediting the artist.

There’s free parking behind the building; the Main Street driveway is shared with Wells Fargo Bank. The show will be up through November 16, and the gallery is open every Friday from 10-2 during drop-in Do-Your-Own-Thing sessions.
