Dennis Millar's gouache painting "The Lacemaker Taking A Break" won Honorable Mention.
The judge thought his interpretation was a nice update to a 17th Century "working girl" classic.
Kelli Lawrence, with her oil painting "Self Portrait" won
1st Place.
The judge felt the replication was amazing, and it incorporated flair and originality in leaving the canvas incomplete.
MaryBeth McCabe, with her watercolor "Galloway's Son" won
2nd Place.
The judge knew this painting well and was amazed at the quality of the replication and the skill she demonstrated with the medium. I feel like "I am visiting the original!"
Lois Mullen, with her collage
"Are You Still Watching" won
3rd Place (she's with award presenter Linda Saladino, PSAA President on the right).
The judge said this is a "hell of an idea!" It's a very different interpretation that merges the artist with her work in a way that recognizes her uniqueness.
Carol Freas, with her collage
"After Magrite" won Honorable Mention.
The judge noted that she obviously
had such fun with this representational interpretation of the painting.
The judge just loved the whimsy of that actual little door.
